Sign the Petition – Call for a Public Forum with Brown and Napolitano!
The students of the University of California system are calling for a public forum in which Governor Brown and President Napolitano can share the ongoing progress of their private meetings with the public at large. As stakeholders of the UC system, we believe that students have a right to be not only informed, but consulted as decisions about our futures are being made. As recipients of state tax dollars, we also believe that the voting public has a right to know what is being discussed in these private meetings.
We have extended an invitation to a forum at the Mondavi Center at UC Davis and have yet to receive an affirmative response. Will you stand with UC Students in calling for greater accountability and transparency of our University? Please sign our petition which calls for a public forum on the issue of UC funding at a time agreeable to all parties involved: [Read more…] about Sign the Petition – Call for a Public Forum with Brown and Napolitano!
Petition – Take Action Against Sexual Assault!
As a UC student, take action in the fight against sexual assault!
The subject of sexual violence and sexual assault on UC campuses is one of national importance. Complaints filed by students resulted in a federal investigation of UC Berkeley and other campuses, a state audit of how the University of California and California State University handle sexual assault allegations, and a new state law requiring explicit consent from both participants in sexual activity occurring on all campuses where public financial aid is used.
While UC President Napolitano formed a Task Force that issued several recommendations to address this issue, students consider this a start, but more can, and should be done.
Students initiated the University of California Student Association’s UConsent Campaign in order to protect the basic right to expect that students feel safe from sexual violence on campus, and that a culture of consent is not just supported, but enforced. UCSA is urging the UC Office of the President to implement mandatory in-person peer consent and bystander intervention training for faculty, staff and students at all UCs.
SIGN THE PETITION!
We demand that the University of California Office of the President:
– Mandate in-person consent and bystander intervention training and education for all students, faculty and staff.
– Allocate a minimum of $420,000 per year for this training program. This is roughly 96 cents per person trained.
– Designate self-identified survivors as training leaders.
– Provide stipends and/or class credit to trainers; all trainers should receive compensation.
By signing this petition, you are asking President Napolitano to actively invest in survivors and trust the power and effectiveness of peer education and student leadership.
TAKE THE PLEDGE!
As a UC student I am taking action in the fight against sexual assault
I pledge to…
– Only engage in consensual sexual activities
– Be an effective bystander in preventing others from acting without consent
– Support survivors of sexual assault
I also support the expansion of University resources to provide mandatory, peer-led consent and bystander intervention training and education on my campus.
About UConsent
UConsent is the UC-wide campaign against sexual assault, which aims to promote a culture of consent through awareness, education, and advocacy for improved resources at both the campus and state levels. [Read more…] about About UConsent

Petition | UC Regents: Don’t Raise Our Tuition!
On Wednesday, November 19, the UC Regents will vote on a proposed “five-year stability plan,” which would establish annual tuition and student fee increases of up to 5% per year for both undergraduate and graduate students, with increase levels contingent on state funding.
The University of California Student Association (UCSA) rejects this tuition proposal, as it aims to use students as political pawns between the UC and the State Legislature, and holds students hostage for the future of their education.
Although tuition has been frozen at $12,192 for 3 years, UC tuition has nearly doubled in the past decade, and could continue to rise to up to $15,564 by the 2019-20 academic year under this proposal.
We are at risk of further eroding two cornerstones of the university: its affordability and accessibility. UC students and their allies must stop the UC from forcing its students to bear the burden of the UC funding gap. The proposed tuition plan, if approved by the UC Regents, will not only affect students, but the future well-being of our state.
We–as students, faculty, workers, family members, community members, and allies–stand in solidarity against the so-called 5-year stability plan. We demand the UC Regents vote “NO” on the tuition proposal on November 19 for a better California, and a better UC.
