The Students of Color Conference (SoCC) is UCSA’s oldest and largest conference, providing a safe space for students of color to strategize around statewide and campus-based actions. SoCC has been hosted every year since 1988.
About the UC Student Congress
UC Student Congress is an annual conference focused on the intersection of organizing and student issues, creating conversation and teaching skills that students need to be powerful student organizers. It is also where UC students retire previous two-year campaigns and vote on a new issue for UCSA to organize around for the next two years.

About GRADE
Grade is our Graduate student campaign to democratize the hiring and evaluation practices of UC faculty members. We are currently conducting a survey of department chairs in order to better understand how policies around graduate student involvement on hiring committees are being put into practice. We hope to use this information to collect best practices and propose new statewide standards for full, permanent representation on all hiring committees. [Read more…] about About GRADE
Be a July Student Advocate to the Regents
UCSA is now accepting applications for Student Advocates to the Regents (StARs) for the July 22-23, 2015 Regents Meeting.
Student Advocates to the Regents (StARs) are students chosen by UCSA to attend Board of Regents meetings and speak on behalf of student priorities. They are provided direct access to the Regents without the constraints of the line separating approved guests from the public audience. [Read more…] about Be a July Student Advocate to the Regents
About Fund the UC
Fund the UC is UCSA’s campaign to reform CA’s Prop 13 and seek additional alternative funding sources for the UC. Throughout the month of February, UC campuses are seeking students support for a Fund the UC postcard campaign, as well as hosting events to educate students on Prop 13 reform.
Fund the UC is committed to long term funding solution for Higher Education. While we are thrilled to hear that in-state undergrad tuition will hold steady for 2015-16 and 2016-17, we are not done fighting for a truly sustainable approach to Fund the UC. State divestment and poor fiscal management threaten the long term stability, accessibility, affordability, and quality of the UC. This limits the educational opportunities available to California students.
Changing the Conversation
Through coalition building, educating students about the effects of tuition hikes, actions, and advocacy, UC Students are working towards long term affordability and accessibility of the UC system. We believe that this will only happen through significant policy change which brings about a stable funding mechanism for all segments of higher education. More than just funding the UC year over year, students hope to see a shift in how the public and policy makers approach funding education; moving from heated debate about a dreaded expense, to a conversation about higher education as a worthwhile investment.
